Creative [SIN]ergy presents, A6 /future/ - a collaboration between 22 illustrators from both Singapore and the UK. Supported by the Singapore International Foundation, The Central Illustration Agency and Tiger Beer. A6 /future/ invites these artists to share their thoughts, hopes and dreams about their future through the use of A6 sized postcards.

Each illustrator will be tasked to pose a question on what he/she feels about the future - express these thoughts through illustrations on half an A6 postcard, before posting them to another illustrator. He/she will then think of a possible answer to complete the template. There will be a mutual exchange of ideas between artists. They are also encouraged to be both imaginative and inspiring in this process.

The completed artworks will be showcased at the Idea Generation Gallery during this year's London Design Festival between 21 - 27 September 2009. The Lecture Hall at Toynbee Hall is an elegant wood- panelled room complete with latticed windows with mullioned surrounds, wooden floor and a carved wood and marble fireplace.

The Room
of Ashbee Hall at the Toynbee Hall is still decorated in the arts and crafts style, retaining 'tree of life' medallions, Toynbee Hall’s logo, on the walls and shields of the Oxford and Cambridge colleges. Latticed windows with mullioned surrounds, wooden flooring and a marble and wood fireplace all help to create a unique atmosphere in this historic room.

"Toynbee Hall produces practical innovative programmes to meet the needs of local people, improve conditions and enable communities to fulfil their potential. We make a difference by developing local programmes that have the power to become national solutions."

About Toynbee Hall

Toynbee Hall produces practical innovative programmes to meet the needs of local people, improve conditions and enable communities to fulfil their potential.

Tower Hamlets continues to be one of the most deprived boroughs in the country and Toynbee Hall works with over 6,000 members of the community each year to support them to meet the challenges that they face and to encourage them to take control of their lives.

Each year, over 500 residential and non-residential volunteers bring their expertise to the services that Toynbee Hall offers. We place volunteers at the heart of our work, always ensuring that we offer excellent opportunities, so that volunteers can meet their personal goals and develop their own skills and networks.

SHOWCASE: Msxi

Msxi grew up with the single ambition of following her father's footsteps (a chinese painter) by becoming an artist. Equipped with very flexible arms that can contort to various formations, she eventually discovered her talent in illustration. With a penchant for good savory food, she performs best when her tummy is full and satisfied. When she's not working, she's often found digging into "junk" stores for beautiful un-loved vernacular objects.

Her works are about ideas and her various social / environmental concerns. She believes in using her abilities to convey ideas and share her thoughts with others in an upfront and honest manner. Msxi may seem small but she has huge ideas and she hopes she will be a positive difference.
