Mohyin Kwan graduated with a Degree in Environmental Design, from Chelsea College of Art, London in 1980 and worked in the Capital for 3 years before returning to Singapore.
On her return she joined DP Architects in 1983 as a Senior Designer. She was promoted to Executive Director in DP Design Pte Ltd. Thereafter she was transferred to DP (HK) for two years to design a hotel in Tianjin, China.
Between 1986-1992, she left for London again, working with Wolff Olins, one of the biggest corporate identity and architectural practices in London; working on several Multinational Corporations (MNC’s) and corporate projects including Wellcome Foundation, Allied Irish Banks, both in Ireland and London, Repsol Headquarters, Rabo Bank in Spain and Holland respectively.
She returned to Singapore in 1993 and re-joined DP Architects and was seconded as an Associate Director to DP Design Pte Ltd in 1997 to re-establish the Interior Design Dept of DP Architects and forming DP Design Pte Ltd.
Her professional experience has been multifaceted; she has extensive experience in a wide range of building projects covering space planning, design and management of commercial, retail outlets, hotels, offices, residential, hospitality, institutions and offices, with projects in Singapore, Malaysia, Shanghai, and Beijing. Her last completed project before she left Singapore was the very distinctive and RIBA award winning “The Esplanade-Theatre on the Bay”
In January 2006 she formed Kwan Design Studio, (formerly known as Fusion IDS) and is the creative director. Some of her recent projects, which she has completed, are Oriental City Colindale, Corporate Branding and Supermarket Interiors, branding the Nihon Panya, a Japanese breadhouse. Interiors and branding ‘Wankara’ Sushi Bar, Interiors and branding Kiasu restaurant, Bayswater, Ochre bar restaurant in St Pauls, Westfield House, Hertfordshire, Elgin Mansions, public areas in Maida Vale etc
In 2004, Mohyin Kwan ‘Mo’ also started MoMaMi, with a good friend and partner, Su Lin from Singapore. MoMaMi specializes in unique designer jewellery using silver and semi-precious stones, all hand picked. Mo as a professional interior architect has always been interested in ‘gem’ stone and jewellery, and had already attended several short courses on the subject in both Singapore and Hong Kong. Mo took on the venture with interest and hopes to take MoMaMi as a company forward, giving it a presence in London and Singapore markets Together SuLin and Mo will work to take “SuLin Serio” design brand to greater heights.
